As a tropical storm floods the land on the heels of Saturday’s catastrophic earthquake it is with sadness and helplessness that I sat down to share with you. But then I was reminded by a song “What Faith Can Do.” The song by Kutless goes on to say, “I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains, hope that doesn’t ever end. Even when the sky is falling, I’ve seen miracles just happen. Silent prayers get answered, broken hearts become brand new. That’s what faith can do. Even if you fall sometimes, you will have the strength to rise.”
Pastor Belade has been able to reach us. His family is safe. Their home did sustain a
crack but is still standing. Two of his pastors and their families were pulled safely from their collapsed homes. At least one church building and the school at Boval have been badly damaged. He has not been able to reach all of the communities he supports in the mountains as even motorcycles can’t get through. He did receive a report that one home sunk into the ground. The first couple of nights everyone slept outside as the ground continued to shake periodically. However, the arrival of tropical storm Grace on Monday had people seeking shelter. Belade’s family
slept on their veranda. Tents and water are the greatest needs at this time.
Join us in prayer for a strengthening of faith for all of us, the peace of God to be on His people in Haiti and for healing and safety. We thank you for your continued support and prayers.
We will keep you updated when Belade can give us more information. See below a poem from a supporter after she heard about the earthquake…..
A Shelter in Haiti
Dedicated to Pastor Belade and his organization MEPHISH for their work with
the people of HAITI ..Meeting both physical and spiritual needs. (after a 7.2 earthquake hit Haiti Aug 14, 2021)
When the earth quakes under your feet in Haiti, look up to the City
on a Hill, there those who love Jesus will provide the shelter you seek.
In the name of Jesus a cup of compassion will be offered, refreshing
both body and soul. You will learn the Truth of God’s love and the
sacrifice of Jesus on the cross so that no-one would be lost. He longs
to heal you and make you whole.
Children are a gift from God to be cherished. Pure religion that God
accepts as pure is to look after orphans and widows in their distress,
God will look after the rest.
The earth now groans waiting for the Creator to come reign again.
Until then the mission is to follow the Great Commission.
Work while it is still day, before the night when people refuse to follow the Way.
Blessed are those who endure until the end!
Dear family in Haiti; prayers are being sent up to the Father in
Heaven who watches over His children with tender care. Our God is
true to show you what you need to do and faithful to see you through.
“Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” How beautiful
are the feet of those who bring Good News.”
