November 2023 Newsletter

Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans 1:11 “I long to see you so that I may impart
to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be
mutually encouraged by each-others faith.”
If you have visited Haiti, you can easily understand this mutual encouragement.
The gratitude, love and care that is lavished on us as visitors is spiritually
invaluable. We hope you are encouraged by knowing how much your partnership
means to the people in Haiti.
Your gracious giving has allowed us to hire an Administrator for MEPHISH,
(Belade’s ministry in Haiti). As a charitable organization, New Mercy Ministries
must account for each dollar sent to Haiti. His wife Jo has been teaching for many
years and supporting their family as Belade takes no wages. Her 45-minute walk
to work was taking a toll on her health. After finding a teaching replacement Jo is
now able to use more of her time for Mephish Ministries.
Your generosity continues to supply much needed food and crops as the economy
in Haiti continues to struggle. Fields of Cassava root, which is ground into flour
and used for bread, corn and peanuts are all growing very well. The big work truck
which was purchased last year is helpful in getting product to the market and
other supplies transported. Your generosity has also allowed monthly
commitments to teachers, and pastors to remain constant. This has been a huge
blessing. Know that many lives are being touched not only in a financial way, but
spiritually in the knowing that Canadian brothers and sisters so far away consider
their needs and keep them in prayer.

To update you on Belade and
Jo’s family, their daughters are
both in Ohio at school. Eli is
working towards becoming a
doctor and Jothy towards a
nursing career. A few of us
travelled to Ohio in August to
attend the wedding of Eli and
Noah. It was a blessing that Rick
could walk her down the aisle, as
Belade was unable to attend.
Please keep Eli and Noah in your
prayers as they travel to Haiti over Christmas.

Belade’s younger brother Jean Dona came to
Canada in October. He was one of the first orphans
that Rick met in Haiti up on mount Toro almost
twenty years ago. He is volunteering at Youth
Unlimited until the New Year when he moves to the
US to attend school and prepare himself for future
ministry to Haiti. God willing; Mephish Ministries.

(update on Jean Donna – working in Canada towards schooling)

On behalf of the people of MEPHISH we thank you,
for your commitment to help financially and in
prayer. Please continue to pray for a change in Haiti
away from violence and toward stability. May hope, joy and peace be with you.
